Ely Cambridgeshire to learn more about Cake allergens, flavours, price point

It's important to be aware of allergies when choosing a cake from our store in Ely, Cambridge. Nowadays, there is a heightened awareness of food allergens, not just in wedding cakes but in all foods. As more adults and children are becoming aware of their allergies, our staff undergo basic training to ensure they can sell cakes that are safe for consumption. However, we always exercise caution when selling cakes to ensure that each order is free from any allergens that may cause a reaction.

                                                       Wedding cake price guide

Planning a celebration cake for your wedding or birthday? The cost of the cake will depend on its design and the level of work involved, such as sugar flowers or models.

You can choose any shape for your wedding cake, but the size of individual tiers may vary depending on the number of guests. If you have a large number of guests, it may be a good idea to have an extra cutting cake in addition to your main cake.

It's difficult to quote an exact price for your wedding cake without knowing the design you have in mind. Once you decide on a style, we can provide an accurate price quote and work within your budget if possible. If your dream design is not practical in terms of pricing, dummy tiers can be used to create the desired effect.

These polystyrene tiers are decorated the same way as edible tiers and then discarded after the cake is served. Our wedding cake gallery features several examples of cakes that incorporate dummies, which are indistinguishable from the real thing.

In addition to cake creation, we offer other services such as cake stand hire, delivery, and setup, as well as cake knives. Please let us know if you need any of these services.

                                                               Cutting your cake

It's important to know that there is a proper way to cut a cake, especially a wedding cake, which many people are not aware of. It can be quite disappointing to see a wedding cake that has been cut incorrectly. At weddings, it's customary for the newlyweds to make the first two cuts to the cake.

Caterers cut

If you plan on having someone in charge of cutting your wedding cake, it's essential to ensure that they know how to cut the cake in advance. You must start cutting the cake from the bottom tier.

Avoid cutting too far under the second tier, as it can cause the cake to tumble later due to being too top-heavy. Instead, cut about two inches from the outside of the cake and continue cutting all the way around the layer.

After the bottom layer has been cut, start working on the second layer. Once it has been cut, remove the top tier for the bride and groom to save for later. Continue cutting in a circular pattern until the entire cake has been cut and served.

If you're having your reception at a hall with a caterer, you won't have to worry about cutting the cake properly. However, let them know if you plan on keeping the top tier so that they don't serve it to your guests. If you don't want to save the top tier, inform them so that they can serve it.

A lovely gesture for the newlyweds is for the bride to serve wedding cake slices to each other's parents before the caterer takes the cake away for serving. It is customary for the bride to serve the groom's parents and the groom to serve the bride's parents.

                                                             Serving Sets

Adding a special touch to a wedding, a cake serving set can be purchased at most wedding stores. Many couples choose to have their names engraved on the wedding knife and cake server.

After the wedding, you can save the set for your children or for use at anniversary parties, birthdays, etc. Wedding cake serving sets are made from a variety of materials including crystal, glass, silver, or pewter. When shopping for your set, you can choose from several options.

If you are thinking of using fresh flowers for your wedding cake decoration, there are several nonpoisonous flowers to choose from like carnations, daisies, chamomile, peony, cornflower, freesia, marigold, Gerber, hibiscus, primrose, sunflower, lisianthus, violas, roses, violets, lavender, chrysanthemums, pansies, and lavender, to name a few. Just make sure to properly clean the flowers before placing them on the cake.
